‘American Idol’ Expert Jim Cantiello Is Worried Kris Allen Is On His Way Out
It’s been well over an hour since Danny Gokey imitated a velociraptor on the “American Idol” stage, but my poor ears have not recovered. But I still need to predict my bottom three for Wednesday night’s results show. (I have such a great track record, what with predicting Allison going home last week, I just know you’re all back clamoring for more of my inane “Idol” musings.)
I’m not sure if they will even do a bottom three Wednesday night, considering there are only four left, but for the sake of this blog (and my “Idol” pool) let’s pretend they will.
Spot #3: Danny Gokey
In many ways, this third-place slot will tell us who will win “American Idol” this year. If Danny Gokey avoids the bottom three and it’s Adam Lambert here, we all know that Gokey is going for the gold. After Adam ruled rock night while Danny Gokey floundered with an amateurish and sometimes-embarrassing Aerosmith cover, I can’t fathom Danny being the top vote-getter of the week. YET, if he does, indeed, pull off avoiding the bottom three Wednesday night, as he has every other results show, he is unstoppable. Here’s why I don’t see Adam in the bottom: His fans are energized after last week’s shocking bottom-two placement. They vowed to never vote-split again, which is bad news for the remaining contestants.
Spot #2: Allison Iraheta
My girl had the difficult task of following Adam’s insanely good Led Zeppelin opener, and then she took it upon herself to get all “Lil Rounds” on the judges after they knocked her Janis Joplin tune. Her sass wasn’t a great note to end on, but luckily she redeemed herself with a playful, irresistible Adam Lambert duet. As Simon said to Adam: “You may have given this one a chance at staying in the competition because of that.” Fingers crossed!
Going Home: (sniff sniff) Kris Allen
I thought Kris would be able to pull off a rock song, but instead he choked. Big time. His “Come Together” wasn’t a total disaster. It was even worse: It was forgettable. Carly Smithson delivered the goods with the same song last season. Kris’ straight-boy take on the song was dullsville. His drab duet with Danny didn’t pull him any favors either, although he won points in my book when, after that performance, he looked as though he was going to deck the Gokester. Awkward! Unless all the teenyboppers rally (which, if you look at the Jonas Brothers’ career trajectory, isn’t very reliable), Kris’ journey is over … until he releases a hit record with Jamie Foxx.
Did You See This?! ‘American Idol,’ Ciara, Lady Gaga And More!
If you love rock, you probably loved “American Idol” contestants Adam Lambert and Allison Iraheta last night. The pair blew the judges away with their duet. And if you want to learn more about Lambert’s “Whole Lotta Love” and Danny Gokey’s “Dream On,” we’ve got you covered.
Ciara told us all about her Fantasy Ride, which came out yesterday. After releasing the daring “Love Sex and Magic” with Justin Timberlake, it is obvious that she is not holding back.
Mixtape Daily caught up with Lady Gaga on the set of Wale’s new video, where she talked about how Kanye West actually understood the real meaning of “Poker Face” when he unleashed the remix to the song.
After learning the sad news that Don DeLuise passed away on Monday, MTV Movies Blog picked the actor’s top five performances, including Dominick DiNapoli in “Fatso” and Tiger in “An American Tail.”
As part of his major comeback, Eminem is launching an iPhone video game to accompany his new album, Relapse.
Did You See This!? ‘American Idol,’ Eminem, Speidi And More!
Matt Giraud finally had to face his fate last night on “American Idol.” Check out our recap of the show, and see how fans of Kris Allen and Adam Lambert reacted to the front-runners’ appearance in the bottom three.
Check out our analysis of the trailer for Eminem’s rather bloody upcoming “3 A.M.” video.
Heidi Montag is done shooting her music video in Mexico, and it’s time for Speidi’s honeymoon. Will they Tweet throughout that too?
Forget all the hype about Susan Boyle, we’d like to concentrate on Allison Iraheta, the original underdog with the amazing voice.
Aren’t 7-11 Slurpees delicious? Hmm, are they still delicious when there are Terminator robots stuck to the straws?
DJ Khaled Says Rick Ross Is Already Working On His Next Album
It’s not the biggest surprise on the world, but DJ Khaled is predicting that Rick Ross’ Deeper Than Rap will be the primo album in the land come tomorrow.
Khaled also spilled the beans that his Miami friend is already working on Deeper Than Rap’s follow-up. “I’m probably not supposed to tell you,” Khaled joked while on the set of Ace Hood’s “Overtime” video. Khaled worked closely with Ross on Deeper Than Rap, serving as the project’s A&R, and hinted that fans can expect more of the same from the Boss’ next opus.
Meanwhile, Khaled will continue to work with a plethora of other Def Jam artists. (He’s the president of Def Jam South and has his own label, We the Best, which Ace is signed to.) Look for Khaled to be sliding beats to acts such as Young Jeezy, Ludacris, Fabolous and new singer Cherlise.
What Should Heidi Montag And Spencer Pratt’s Wedding Song Be?
By Kathleen Newman-Bremang

By all accounts, Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt will walk down the aisle
— er, again — on Saturday. But with that news comes another burning question: What song will Speidi choose to christen their union? Will they go the traditional smooth route and slow-dance to Celine Dion (too predictable?) or Elton John (too classy?)? Or will the club-hopping partiers bust a move to some Lil Jon (too … perfect?). The possibilities are endless, but we decided to narrow the list down to five …
“Body Language”- Heidi Montag These two are clearly no strangers to self-promotion, so Speidi might forego the whole first-dance thing and use this special moment to plug Heidi’s upcoming album.
“Endless Love” – Diana Ross and Lionel Richie Spencer and Heidi have been known to go heavy on the cheese. But given Stephanie Pratt’s comments on the couple’s eternal commitment, perhaps this chestnut is perfect — remixed by T-Pain!
“All My Life” – K-Ci and JoJo Since
Heidi’s taken up tweeting about her religious preferences, we think the couple could choose a song loaded with Christian undertones. “All My Life” may not be a gospel joint, but it’s a classic first-dance choice and it’s got God references galore.
“Blame It” – Jamie Foxx Spencer and Heidi might choose to pay tribute their wild first wedding in Mexico with Foxx’s ode to alcohol. But no blaming it on the tequila this time!
Will Deeper Than Rap Make Rick Ross The Next Rap Superstar?
By Rahman Dukes
After almost a year of addressing and dodging his old job as a prison guard, Rick Ross’ Deeper Than Rap album finally hit shelves today. Lawsuits, controversies and a heated rap battle with knockout king 50 Cent filled Ross’ plate, but in the end, the MC packaged it all nicely into his best work to date.
The hip-hop community was looking for 50’s next chess move against Ross, which Fif threatened to deliver on Ross’ album-release day, but the blow never came. The Bawse seemed totally removed from the beef and focused on his big day, which included an in-store signing at a local chain store in North Miami called BrandsMart. Many supporters came out to show Ricky love, copping his new CD and meeting him in person.

As I sat back and watched Ross signing copies of the album for fans, flanked by pal DJ Khaled and his Carol City Cartel clique, I couldn’t help but wonder if I were watching the making of the next rap superstar. Only time will tell. For the duration of his battle with Fif, real heads knew the victor would be based on two things: good music and record sales. Ross gets a point for the endless hits he’s been putting out these past months, but the real deciding factor will come next Wednesday, when SoundScan releases the numbers.
I’m putting my money on another #1 debut.
